Canada’s 2008 Olympic Uniforms Hit Vancouver Streets
Olympic Uniforms for the 2008 Beijing Olympics have hit the street of Vancouver, to mixed reviews.
Some of the people enjoyed the uniforms originality, while others made fun of it, even going as far as comparing it to “circus attire”.
Most of the Vancouverites along Robson Street were unsure on how to react, but one comment was fairly common among all of them, “definitely eye catching”, but not necessarily in a good way!
HBC (Hudson Bay Company) designer, Tu Ly, calls the uniforms a combinations of East meets West. The number 8, considered lucky in China, is all over the Olympic clothing.

Yikes, the ones on the right look pretty tragic. Oh well, maybe we can distract our way to some wins in skiing and sledding events and grab the top medal count in the process
HBC is a department store not a design house.
The uniforms look like Pajamas… and are an embarrassment to our athletes.
Lucas thank you for your comments, and I am afraid I agree with whole heartedly. I am so glad I do not have to wear them.

Short, capris, slip on shoes? This is for the WINTER Olympics?
What were they thinking?!
MJ,
Thank you for the comment, and to answer your question, thankfully these uniforms are for the 2008 Olympics in China this summer, thankfully not the 2010 ones.

I still weep for our nation, lol =/
So true!!
I think the plan is to make all the other athletes laugh so hard at our uniforms that they won’t be able to finish any of the races!
Brilliant!
Daniel,
I have to admit, I certainly am not impressed with how they look. I like you idea behind it, as it will be difficult to compete against.
lol

[...] “The Vancouver Traveler” talks about Canada’s Olympic uniforms. [...]
Are you kidding me? These uniforms are humiliating! They look like they were designed for Walmart stores’ P.J. section. It is a national disgrace that Roots is designing uniforms for the U.S. and that Canadians are forced to wear this drek on an international forum.
I am sorry but I hate to say….I to think the uniforms are terrible.
But what is one to do?!?
the canadian 2008 olympic uniforms are not only an embarrassment in terms of design, they are made by a company ultimately owned by a U.S. corporation. So how unpatriotic is that. The fashion laughing stock of the Olympics
