Saltspring Air – The Islanders Airline
Saltspring Air is a float plane service, based out of Ganges on Saltspring Island.
They are known amongst those living on the various Gulf Islands as the “Islanders Airline” because they provide schedualed and charter flights to and from the Gulf Islands and tailor those flights to suit their customers.
Saltspring Air also offers scheduled flights between Saltspring Island, Vancouver International Airport, Vancouver Harbour and Maple Bay on Vancouver Island.

Soaring Gas Prices Effecting BC Tourism
The soaring price of gas is sending shock waves far beyond the gas pumps!
High gas and diesel prices are pushing up the price of everything from food, to the price of catching a cab, a plane or a ferry. All of which means fewer tourists visiting Vancouver.
The B.C. Passenger Transportation Board has said that of July 12, cab and limousine fares will jump 3.5 percent, due to rising fuel costs.
The Transportation Board has also reviewed the issue of implementing a fuel surcharge, and have agreed to issue a temporary fuel surcharge which will take effect July 1.

Skytrain Extension
Vancouverites are very excited about the new SkyTrain extension that is in full swing, the first of three lines should be completed ahead of the 2010 Olympics! The Greater Vancouver Transport Authority (Translink) is responsible for operation and development of the system which already has a network of two lines running 49.5 km around the city center.

Getting around Vancouver by public transportation
Getting around Vancouver on either foot or by vehicle is rather easy. The city has been broken into a “zone” systems which allows you to travel around the downtown area as well as exploring your way to some of the out- lying communities and tourist attractions.
The BC Transit System includes electric buses, the sea bus and a light-rail Skytrain.
It’s an ecologically friendly and extremely reliable system that allows you to go everywhere, from the beaches to the ski slopes!

BC Ferries
BC Ferries as two mainland ferry terminals, Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay, which provide transportation to Vancouver Island, the Gulf Island and the Sunshine Coast.
Tsawwassen is approximately 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver and Horseshoe Bay takes about the same amount of tim, but is north of Vancouver.
Schedules are always changing depending on the season, and some routes can get extremely busy, especially during the summer months.
Ferries usually run every 1 to 2 hours depending on the route.
