Thanks to the blockbuster success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, everyone know the plot to this much loved film series.
But what do you know about its precursor, The Hobbit?
The J.R.R. Tolkien novel that started it all, goes from the pages of the book onto the stage of Granville Island’s Waterfront Theatre, starting April 11 and running through to May 3.

Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival

Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival is a professional theatre company that stages four productions repertory every June through September. The 2008 season starts on May 29 and goes through to September 21, 2008.
Performances are on stages in open ended tents on the waterfront in Vanier Park and at Kits Point, both locations offer a spectacular view of mountains, sea and the fantastic Vancouver city skyline.
This season Bard on the Beach will be performing Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, King Lear, The Tempest and Titus Andronicus.

2008 Women in Film Festival

Between 1 – 8 March, and the 3rd Annual Women in Film Festival, BC will be taking place in conjunction with International Women’s Day to celebrate the accomplishments of women in film.
The Festival starts with the Female Film Frenzy, a 48 hour film contest, and culminates with the Spotlight Awards Gala, honoring key contributors to our local industry. Over 50 films from around the world will be screened, showcasing women’s voices and stories. The 4th annual PuSh International Performing Arts Festival will take place in Vancouver from January 16 to February 3, 2008.
