National Free Diving Championship 2008
Free diving is an aquatic sport also referred to as “breath hold” diving.
Competitors will face off in this event starting on Friday, May 30. The evening of competition will have the divers competing in the pool, seeing who can hold their breath the longest. On Saturday they will be back in the pool to see who can swim the most meters underwater without coming up for air.
The pool portion of the competition will be taking place at the U.B.C Aquatic Center, Friday from 7:30 to 9:30pm and Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30pm.
On Sunday the competitors will be chartered out to sea by boat to find out who can dive the deepest!
This part of the competition will take place off the shore of Lion’s Bay Marina, with an awards ceremony afterwards.
The National Free Diving Championship is free for spectators, so why not check out this remarkable sport!
