New Year’s Eve suggestions
New Year’s Eve should be a restaurant’s excuse to pull out all the stops. The good ones will definitely make your evening worth the price, while others will just up the cost and offer their regular menu. For those of you who prefer a sit down meal instead of an all out night club type of evening, here are a few suggestions
O Thai - 1626 West Broadway
At $50 per person, its an affordable and delicious way to spend the evening. Along with a four course Thai dinner, a gift bag and a Singha beer sampling, the owner’s wife Ann Fernando (who once signed with Sony) with be your evening entertainment.
Globe at YVR - Vancouver Airport Fairmont Hotel, Richmond
Eat all you want at the gala buffet dinner for $54 per person ( half price for kids 6-12)
For those who want to celebrate at midnight, you can retire to the Jet Set Lounge, where a pianist will entertain you and join in the count down to the New Year.
Goldfish - 1118 Mainland Street
Yaletown will be one big celebration and Goldfish will be right in the middle of it!
There are ticket for the lounge with entertainment for $40. In the dining area, the regular menu holds for the first seating and a five-course chef’s menu ($65) kicks in for the late seating. There will be a DJ, dancing, party favors and champaign at midnight.
Opus Hotel - 322 Davies Street
Forget the sit down multi-course dinner. There will be celebrating going on in various public areas of the hotel. The theme is Russia, with Love, music by Hed Kandi, dancing, canapes, entertainment, vodka bars carved from ice, faux fur and a champagne toast at midnight.
