The Vancouver Traveler

This exhibit looks back through a period of almost 50 years of history through the eyes of Japanese Canadian Photographers who operated studios in Cumberland, New Westminster and Vancouver. There are over eighty black and white photographs on display revealing a variety of subjects from diverse communities at the time, both the elite and labourers.
An exhibition catalogue accompanies the show and is for sale in the Gallery shop.

Between 1 – 8 March, and the 3rd Annual Women in Film Festival, BC will be taking place in conjunction with International Women’s Day to celebrate the accomplishments of women in film.
The Festival starts with the Female Film Frenzy, a 48 hour film contest, and culminates with the Spotlight Awards Gala, honoring key contributors to our local industry. Over 50 films from around the world will be screened, showcasing women’s voices and stories. The Museum of Anthropology is a mandatory visit for anyone interested in West Coast Canadian history and Aboriginal art. It has one of the world’s finest displays of Northwest Coastal First Nation’s art, artifacts and an unlimited supply of cultural information. It is a great way to spend a rainy (or snowy) afternoon with the whole family and learn a lot about British Columbia’s rich First Nation’s history.
The museum is located on the campus of the University of British Columbia, about a 20 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.
