Vancouver’s annual favorite, is being held in the historic neighborhood of Kerrisdale. This show is featuring 60 specialty vendors with over 250 tables of antiques, retro design and vintage collectibles.

This is the 7th annual event and it promises to deliver the goods, some of the items to look forward to;

Sonic Boom 2008

An annual Festival of New Music Composers will be held over 4 nights from (10 – 13 April). The works of 41 different composers will be featured, at the Western Front in Vancouver (303 East 8th Avenue).

The Festival is in it’s 21st year, and this festival is widely thought of as one of Canada’s most important showcases for new work, which includes both mature and emerging composers.

For of this years composers are;

Leslis Yyeda
Mark Armanini
Jin Zhang
Alexander Pecheyuk

Easter Egg-Stravaganza

March 22, appears to be the day for Easter Egg hunts here in Vancouver. There are many many events planned throughout the Lower Mainland. Here are but a couple that have been planned;

North Surrey Recreation Center is offering an East swim which includes activities such as egg hunts, crafts, face painting and much much more. Call 604.502.6300

Renfrew Park Community Center, this event is guaged for the 2 – 10 year olds, and it is come rain or shine. There will be a Magic Show, face painting, crafts, door prizes and their famous egghunt. There is even going to be a play area set up for younger siblings. For more information call 604.257.8388

Wellingdon Center, 1491 Carleton Ave, from 10:30 – 12:00noon, is having a family breakfast, events creating some Easter crafts and they will have a mini egg hunt! Children must be accompanied by adults. For more information call 604.299.1446

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 16th will see the 5th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It’s all set to march in downtown Vancouver along Howe and Granville Street. So put your green gear or kilt on and get ready to cheer on Vancouver’s most colourful and action packed parade.

If I were you, I would plan on spending the rest of the day at the Celtic Village on Granville Street and discover Celtic treasures and hear some of the best Celtic musicians/dancers and enjoy plenty of free entertainment for the kids and adults alike.

2008 Women in Film Festival

Between 1 – 8 March, and the 3rd Annual Women in Film Festival, BC will be taking place in conjunction with International Women’s Day to celebrate the accomplishments of women in film.

The Festival starts with the Female Film Frenzy, a 48 hour film contest, and culminates with the Spotlight Awards Gala, honoring key contributors to our local industry. Over 50 films from around the world will be screened, showcasing women’s voices and stories. Valentines Day Approaches

As Valentines Day approaches, I have been trying to figure out what would be different for a change. Though, I know the old stand-ins are always there, and flowers and chocolates are good…but why not try and hit a home run this year.

Port Moody Night Market Fair and Magic Show

Out of Bounds: Tales from the Backcountry.

Out of Bounds is an exciting photography exhibition and competition of featuring scenes of skiing and snowboarding in BC’s beautiful backcountry. Being that I too am currently in the back country so to speak, I think this would be an interesting and fun event to see. This exhibition showcases some of the region’s most well-known professional photographers, as well as exciting amateur photographers from the Sea to Sky Corridor and throughout BC.
